‘Silver Linings’, released in April 2021, was embellished by a number of guest musicians and featured a fresh reworking of a few of Al Shalliker's older songs but is mostly made up of previously unreleased newer material. Influenced by the classic songwriters yet highly original, ‘Silver Linings’ is a powerful representation of Al’s inimitable style, made relevant for a new audience.

about

‘Where all the Music Comes From’ is the opening track and first single from Al Shalliker’s 2021 debut solo album, ‘Silver Linings’. Although initially written more than 10 years ago, the song has been completely reinvented for Al’s latest project. Featuring hook-driven harmonica playing and layered with harmony, ‘Where all the Music Comes From’ is suggestive of the folk-rock scene of the late 1960s while viewing loss and the art of songwriting from more than one perspective.

lyrics

I’ve been tiring of these love songs
You’ve been playing on my mind
Where does all the music come from
Going in and out of time

Drain your cup of all my sunshine
So the rains they’re gonna fall
I’ve been dying on the inside
Let the drunken clown go forth

It still matters to me
Does it matter to you
It’s hard to believe
You’re feeling this too

Was it me who cast the first stone
Into a past so far behind
I’ve been swaying on your tightrope
All this love it travels blind

It still matters to me
Does it matter to you
It’s hard to believe
You’re feeling this too
